Teddy races to the Finishline

Following on our success in Orlando we next went to the shows here in West Palm Beach, July 16 and 17, he won the points both days under James Reynolds and Sandra Goose Allen. Giving him a total of 10 points. Then back to Orlando for the Central Florida Toy Club, Aug 13 and 14. Judge Kathy Bucher Sawyer gave him Winners Dog for a big 4 point major. Then she liked him so much she gave him BEST OF BREED over 4 other specials bumping up the major to 5 POINTS and completing his championship. He was also awarded Best Bred By Exhibitor. He was spooked by the signs in the ring during the group competition and would not gait properly. However for the Bred By Group he was used to the signs and Mr Robert Hall gave us a Group 3. What a day and what a record, for me anyway. I've never had a dog finish so fast. Six shows, five wins, a reserve, undefeated in the Bred by classes, Best Of Breed over a top 5 ranked special, and a Group 3 in the Bred By group! He was a year old when he started and 14 months old when he finished.

At the shows in Orlando June 24, 2011 under Judge Carolyn Herbel Teddy, Rocyn's Fast and Furious, took a four point major from the Bred By class. He showed like he had been doing this his whole life. He was a puppy the next day and went reserve under judge Peter Green but was back in the groove for the Sunday show and took the two points and Best of Winners for 2 points. Six points with a major his first weekend out! We are very proud and so is his mother, Desi, CH Forevr Burning Desire at Rocyn and his father, Turbo, CH Forevr at Rocyn Theres a Will.

For those of you who ask, "How small is a papillon when they are born?" I thought I might post a photo of a brand new baby girl. She weighed at birth 4 ounces and the stick of butter weighs 4.2 ounces. Just because she was this small at birth she grew up to be a normal size girl. Beware of breeders who guarantee you that a small puppy will stay small unless they are at least 6 months old, and even then they can continue growing ending up at 9 or 10 inches. Beware anyone trying to sell you a "teacup" papillon.

Mike and Brandi of Braylor's papillons have sent Braylor's Fancy Dancer, Danni, to Florida to compete for her championship title. Thank you for sending this very typey little girl to Rocyn. She is a delightful girl and Zorro has fallen head over tail in love. Just like a lot of teenage boys he followed her everywhere and became an absolute pest. When she would try and run him off he would sit away from her and just wag his tail and whine. He was really quite funny to watch. Bad news for Zorro, she's come into season and is now living in a different part of the house. So he can hear her and smell her but he can't even get close enough to see her. Poor Zorro!

Sunshine State Papillon Club show held in Sarasota, FL July 6 with judge Colleen Brossard. My boy Zorro took Winners Dog from the Bred By class. He then took Best Bred By Exhibitor for another pretty ribbon and then was given an Award of Merit, over specials. He earned 2 more points. The next day at the Greater Venice shows held at the same location and under judge Roy Keiser Zorro was awarded Winners Dog and Best of Winners for another 2 points. Go, Zorro, Go!

Jason gets a new home and a new name

Jason is the first pup to go to his forever family. Rosemary Leone picked him up on Monday, October 1. She has decided to rename him Rocyns Leonardo Da Vinci, Leo for short. She is thinking of Therapy dog training and he is thinking of treat training (when ever he looks pitifully at her she gives up a tasty treat). It will be an adventure, one I am sure they will both enjoy.

Columbia Kennel Club shows held in Columbia, South Carolina, Sept 29 and 30. Judges William Usherwood and Dorothy Dalton gave Zorro Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Breed for a total of 2 more points. He now has 9 points including one major.
Our side trip to Charleston, South Carolina was very nice. I can highly recommend the BoatHouse in Charleston and the Solstice Kitchen and Wine Bar in Columbia. I am going to have to eat nothing but lettuce for 2 weeks to make up for the weekends wonderful experiences.

My puppy born here last year, Rocyns Don Diego de la Vega, or Zorro for short, went to the Douglasville Kennel Club show in Atlanta, GA, Sept 21, 2007 and won 3 points under judge Michelle Billings. She was surprised to learn he was just over a year old because of his big beautiful coat, thanks to his daddy, Forevr Chippendales Dancer.

Lucy and Turbo are the very proud new parents to a litter of 5 boys born on the Fourth of July. All are good size, with nice markings. Four of them are red sables like mom and dad and one is a tri color. Robert has decided to name them after Miami Dolphin football players so we have Trent (Green), Dan (Marino), Zach (Thomas), Nick (Bonaconte) and Jason (Taylor). This was quite the surprise because she was not as big as she was when she had 4 puppies two years ago. This will be her last litter and what a way to finish.

At the Toy Dog Club of Central Florida show held in Orlando June 30 and July 1 Desi, Forevr Burning Desire at Rocyn won back to back for 3 points under judges Ken DiLorenzo and Mrs Charlotte Patterson. She has a total of 9 points now and just needs her majors to finish.

Lucy finishes her Rally title

At the South Dade Kennel Club show, May 6, 2007, Lucy, Rocyns She's On Fire, completed her first Rally Novice title. We had to skip the competition the day before because both conformation and rally were on at the same time but on Sunday we had enough time to compete and get back to the other ring on time. Most of my fellow papillon competitors came over to the rally ring to cheer us on. Lucy completed her title in 3 consecutive runs. This fall, after her last litter has arrived, we will resume her rally training.

Our little Lucy went out this weekend at the Heartland kennel Club shows in Zolfo Springs and snaged a double qualifier on the Rally Novice course. After purchasing a book about Rally and practicing on the driveway at home Lucy and Cynthia scored a 94 and a 90, out of a possible 100 to earn her first two legs towards her Rally Novice title. These dogs are so smart. Lucy picked up really quick on the commands and even when I messed up and gave the wrong command she sat and waited for me to correct myself and give her the right cue. One more good score and she will be Rocyn's She's On Fire, RN. Oh, and lest I forget she will soon be Therapy dog certified! Yeah, Lucy.

As we finish this year and look forward into 2007 I would like to take a moment and remember some of the highlights and people of this past year.
Robert, my husband, for a non-dog person he has turned into the most supportive of partners and husbands. He sits ringside at almost all of the shows to watch me "do my thing". I did get him into the ring once this year. I had WB and a special and no one around to help me so I thrust the lead into his hand and pushed him in the ring and told him, "just walk around with the bitch and do what the judge tells you to do". I thank the Goddess above that the judge didn't make him "do" anything.
RuthAnn and Danny Ford of Forevr papillons-Thank you from the bottom and top of my heart for all of the trust and confidence you have had in me this past year. I think we have been a great team. You send me beautiful dogs, Finn, Mogwaii and Chip, to show and I get to go out and have a lot of fun. Who could forget the Blizzard of 06 in New York City. My first blizzard and then winning the big 5 pt major with Forevr Rock Hudson at the Speciality before Westminister, cheering for Willie at the BIG show. The Ohio and South Carolina trip was a blast and I can't wait to do Canfield again next year. And for giving me Desi. She has become such a part of my life and IS the BEST pap I have ever had. THANK YOU!

Movie star spotted in Atlantis

The neighbors were in awe when Cary Grant showed up at my house! Forevr Cary Grant, that is. RuthAnn Ford has sent the most beautiful of boys to me to complete his championship. Shirley Horn had been showing him and he earned 6 points including one of his majors with her.
He took off like a shot. I entered him in 6 shows over 2 weekends and he finished in those 6 shows.
December 9 and 10 Greater Miami Dog Club he goes Winners Dog both days for one point each day. The judges were Ms. Sandra Goose Allen and Mr. Richard Bauer
December 14, Sunshine State Papillon Club Speciality, Orlando, FL, judge Mr. Philip Lanard, Winers Dog and Best of Winners for 3 points (a great birthday gift for me)
Dec 17 Brevard Kennel Club, Orlando, Fl under judge Mrs. Glenda Dawkins, Winners Dog for 4 points and finishing in grand style.
Cary's brother, CH Forevr Errol Flynn, who lives on the west coast of Florida, was also at the shows in the BOB class and watched his brother complete his title. Cary is one of 4 brothers, three of whom have finished their championships.

Another driving adventure

I am departing home for Albany, GA and 3 days of shows. My friend Karen Byrd and I are meeting and sharing a hotel room. We happened to get lucky and quite a few other pap people are also at our hotel.
October 22, Thronateeska Kennel Club, judge Mr. Randy Garren and in the rain Penny goes Winners bitch for 3 points. She needs 1 point to finish.
This was a big pap weekend and 13 of us got together to have dinner at an Italian Restaurant and had a wonderful time laughing and giggling and telling dog stories.
On Sunday, after judging, I drove from Albany up to Nashville, TN to visit with my son and his fiance. They had just weeks before completed their move from Florida to Nashville to allow my son to accept a promotion. The drive was gorgeous with all of the leaves changing. I only wish Robert could have come along to see them. I had a whirlwind tour of the city and a wonderful dinner at a place called Sambuca's that had a live band and their music was great. All too soon it was time to drive back to Marietta, Georgia and meet up with Karen and almost the same bunch of pap people as the weekend before.
This group of shows has always been good for me and this visit was no different.

Oct 28, Kennesaw Kennel Club, under judge Ms. Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine Penny took the 2 points and finished. She will now be known as CH Braylor's Penny Lane! And Karen and Zack took the 3 points for the dogs.
I left right after the pictures were taken but was only able to get as far as Orlando and spent the night with my son and his wife. After a great dinner and a good nights sleep I made it home the next day.

We have a new baby

Lucy, Rocyn's She's On Fire, gave birth on August 9, exactly 2 days after arriving home from Ohio. She had only one puppy and we have named him Zorro because he has a perfect black mask. Desi is being a wonderful big sister and spends almost as much time with the puppy as Lucy. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this little boy will grow up to be just as pretty as his father, Forevr Chippendales Dancer, "Chip", who is not here anymore but living in New Orleans with a family that plans to complete his championship title.

Rita finished her championship at the Heart of America Kennel Club, Aug 26. She went home after the Ohio shows and Brandi Bray, her breeder and owner, finished her at the first show weekend she took her to. She only needed a 3 point major to finish and did so under judge Mrs. Muriel Purkhiser.

RuthAnn and I hit the road together

RuthAnn Ford and I are on the road to two big weekends of shows. RA flew into West Palm Beach airport on July 25. We had a wonderful time visiting before we left to go to the shows in Greenville, South Carolina. We stopped the first day of driving in Savannah, GA and completed our trip to Greenville the next day. RA was showing "Luka", Connection Rolls Royce and I was showing one of the 3 bitches I brought along, Rita, Penny or Desi.

We then drove to RA's home in Pennsylvania and Danny took us to a wonderful little brew pub in State College. I left the next day to drive to Ohio. I spent one night with my family that lives there. The next day my uncle who owns a beautiful motor home took it over to the Canfield fairgrounds and set it up for me and my dogs. RA and Danny joined me later that afternoon and they set up their RV a few doors down. There were a lot of friends and a lot of fun on the grounds the night before the shows started.

August 4, Columbiana County Kennel Club with judge Mrs Charlotte Patterson took another 3 points with Luka
August 6, Mahoning-shenango kennel Club with judge Mrs Joyce Fortney I was showing Forevr Braylor's Gypsy Moon for RA in the 6-9 mo puppy class. This little girl is the consummate showdog. All I had to do was hold onto the lead and she strutted her way into a 4 point major. The judge told me she could not take her eyes off Gypsy.
Robert flew up to Ohio on Saturday to drive home with me and we made it home in 2 days. What a great trip and we surely had fun every night.

My beautiful little bitch, Desi, made her first appearance today at the show and tho we didn't win, she really had a good time. Many of my fellow competitors said a lot of really nice things about her and she made the rounds of a lot of laps.
A little history. Desi is the get of two animals that I had the priviledge of showing to their championships. Her sire is Kingshaven Uphold the Dream, "Finn". Her dam is Forevr Burning Memories, "Pricilla". I am very grateful to Ruth Ann and Danny Ford for giving me the opportunity to own and show such a beautiful little girl. She holds such promise and my heart neath her little paws. Watch for her to really shine.

We call him Chip and he loves to be in the show! He charms hearts where ever he goes. He has earned 2 points from Mrs. Robert Forsyth, at the Boca Raton Club show held in West Palm Beach, May 13, 2006 and the next weekend at the North Ft. Myers Dog Club show held in North Ft Myers he earned another 2 points from Mrs. Jane Kay.
I wish you could feel his coat. It is everything a paps' coat should be and at just 9 months of age it is showing great promise of being the best coat I have ever seen. Many thanks go out to the Fords for sending Chip to us for his show career.

Mogwaii finishes in style

April 22-23, 2006. At the Heartland Kennel Club of Florida shows held in Zolfo Springs, FL, Mogwaii went Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Breed over 3 other specials to complete his title with a four point major. Our judge was Christine Meyers Anderson. He is now CH Kingshaven Upper Crust. I moved him up to the BOB class for the Sunday show and he won BOB again, over specials, under judge Carolyn Herbel. We stayed for group and Ms Anderson pulled us out for final consideration. We did not get a ribbon but we all went home very happy. That's the closest I have come, with a papillon, to a group placement. We will be specialing Mogwaii for a little while until he goes to Central America to compete for his International title.

Andrew and Paula, my performance stars

Andrew, Rocyn's Storm Warning CGC,CD,RN,RA, from my very first papillon litter, and his best friend, Paula Castagno, finished his Rally Advanced title this weekend in Perry, GA, April 13-15, 2006. He earned his first leg in agility, Novice Jumpers, placing 2nd with a score of 95 out of 100, winning a second place ribbon, and in Novice Standard he also scored 95 and won the second place ribbon, again. He is a Certified Therapy dog and a Canine Good Citizen. Paula also has a dog from my second litter, Linus, Rocyns Got Milk, RA, who perfers to warm her husbands lap instead of running around jumping and weaving. Paula took home this weekend, Forevr at Rocyn Burning Rubber, AKA Slick, soon to be Flash, who we both think will excell in agility. CONGRATULATIONS Paula and Andrew, you make us very proud.

I took Finn to New York to return him to Ruth Ann and she gave me his brother to show. They call him Mogwaii, which is the animal before it becomes a gremlin in the movie "Gremlins". He is such a sweet boy just like his movie version. But we don't have to worry about bathing him or what time we feed him. So now we have Kingshaven Upper Crust.

Robert and I are headed to the Big Apple to watch the dog that we co-own with Ruth Ann and Danny Ford, CH Forevr TX Redheaded Stranger, Willie, strut his stuff in the BIG SHOW. But first I am going to help Ruth Ann show a puppy at the Papillion Club specialty show held on Saturday and Sunday. I am going to show Forevr Rock Hudson in the 9-12 month puppy classes. We certainly had a good time and on Sunday we won our class and WINNERS DOG for 4 points. Mr William Cunningham was our judge. Sunday was also the day of the BLIZZARD OF 06'. The blizzard deposited 27 inches of snow in Central Park, it brought the city to a stand still, was at times white out conditions and there was thunder and lightning. What a day! I have never seen so much snow in my whole life, being a Florida girl and all. I wanted to make a snowman but the snow was too dry. It was beautiful.
The next day was Monday, time for Willie to do his thing. He went out there with the big boys, dogs much older and seasoned than he and with a handler he had just met. But he didn't care, he loves to show and he did. We'll have to wait for another year or so to get in the ribbons but he really strutted his stuff. It was so thrilling to be there and watching a dog that I had finished and co-own. Next time I'm going to be out there with a dog.

Stryker is a CHAMPION

Stryker wins his class and goes on to Winners Dog and another big FIVE point major win. He completed his requirements all from the Bred By Exhibitor classes and so we will be awarded a medallion from AKC and will be invited to the Eucanuba Invitational in California in December. Stryker is the first dog that I have bred that I was able to finish and to do it from the Bred By class is extra special for me. Thank you Karen Byrd for encouraging me to show and complete his title from BBE. Thank you Ruth Ann and Danny Ford for allowing the breeding to CH En-La's Bravissimo, "Bravo" that produced this wonderful little dog and for keeping him alive when the litter was born a week early. You are both more than friends, you are family.
This will be Bravo's 24th champion offspring and we could not be prouder.
He finished three days before his first birthday, so he will be home trying to grow enough fringe to be competitive. Watch for him next year.

Finn wins a very competitive Open class and goes on to Winners Dog and Best of Winners for 5 points and finishing his American Championship. Finn has half of his Finnish Championship and is a Moldavian Champion. He will be returning to Finland to finish his championship in that country. I have never finished a dog so quickly(in just 6 shows) and with 3 five point majors. Another FIRST for me.

New Years in Texas

Robert and I took Blondie home to Texas and stayed to ring in the New Year with Mike and Brandi, and Danny and Ruth Ann. We had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect, the hospitality was legendary and we made some new friends and got reacquainted with some old friends. Mike and Brandi's house was a whirlwind of activity. A very intensive "Doggie" weekend. I brought home Rita, Braylor's Lovely Rita to show and RuthAnn gave me Desi, a beautiful little bitch. She is out of CH Forevr Burning Memories, Pricilla, and CH KIngshaven Uphold The Dream, Finn. I finished both mom and dad so Ruth Ann felt that I should have this little girl. We are so excited about her and grateful to have the opportunity to finally have a quality bitch that we hope will be our foundation. Her name will be Forevr at Rocyn Burning Desire.
